Wednesday, May 15, 2002 -- North Jersey Music Labs and Executive Director Luciano Salvatore announce new summer program.

Beginning this summer, North Jersey Music Labs will provide weekly summer workshops to music students of all instruments. There are four types of workshops available:

Ensembles 4-5 students maximum. Genres include jazz, pop, rock, and blues. Students will work with keyboards as well as other live instrumentalists.
Harmony/Theory/Ear Training Learn the secrets of harmonic progressions, melodic identification, intervals, and the tools for better playing and composition.
Sight Reading Beginning and advanced sight reading concepts presented clearly to improve your reading of traditional music and jazz lead sheets.
Composition/Improvisation Learn to write and arrage your own songs, arrange popular music and express yourself through improvisation.

More About Luciano Salvatore

Luciano Salvatore was born on December 6, 1952 in Hamden, Connecticut and began piano lessons at the age of nine. By age ten, young Luciano was already composing music, and performing at recitals and local functions. After finishing High School, Salvatore continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts under Edward C. Bedner (piano), Gary Burton (improvisation), and Charles Banacos (piano), receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in 1975. Subsequently, Mr. Salvatore accepted a faculty position at Berklee while continuing his education at Boston University with Edith Stern.

Shortly after being certified as a Master of Music, Luciano moved to the New York metropolitan area and founded North Jersey Music Labs, a private firm specializing in piano, theory, composition, improvisation, and voice. North Jersey Music Labs's clientele now includes over one hundred students.

Salvatore's diverse performing career has taken him throughout the United States, Japan, Italy, and Canada. During this time, he also established himself as a producer of award-winning music whose credits include one of the ten best records of 1996, according to JazzTimes magazine.
